Built by contractors, for contractors. Black Forge Technology is a veteran-owned BIM and VDC firm based in Dallas–Fort Worth, founded by the owner of an active general contracting firm. We fix coordination the way someone who has run the job would, with the RFI log and the three-week lookahead in front of us.
Being local helps with the practical side. Site walks and trailer coordination meetings anywhere in the Metroplex are a drive for us.
BIM and VDC services for DFW projects
Take one service or several. We set the scope per project.
Coordination and clash detection
We run coordination as your VDC team or back up the one you have: federated models, a clash detection cadence the trades can keep, and coordination signed off before anything is fabricated or installed.
LOD 400 fabrication models
Fabrication-level models and spool drawings for MEP prefab, built from the signed-off coordination model. What we take on depends on the job and the site, so we scope it project by project.
BIM assessment and standards
If BIM is costing you time on current jobs, we review your workflows, standards and handoffs, hand you a prioritized list of fixes, and train your team so the standards hold.
3D laser scanning and Scan-to-BIM
As-built capture before a renovation, tenant finish-out or MEP retrofit, delivered as registered point clouds, 2D extracts or Revit models at the LOD your design and prefab teams need. Occupied hospitals, offices and stores can be scanned off-hours. More on 3D laser scanning and Scan-to-BIM.
Concrete flatness (FF/FL)
Full-surface slab scans with FF/FL results and deviation maps, so high and low spots show up while they're still cheap to fix. More on FF/FL scanning.
BIM scope estimating with BIM-IQ
BIM-IQ, our estimating software, prices the BIM and VDC scope on a bid: work that typically takes 2–7 days, done in minutes. You bring the quantities and pick the disciplines and LOD.
Where we work in North Texas
We're based in Dallas–Fort Worth and take projects across the Metroplex, including Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Irving, Grand Prairie, Garland, Richardson, Plano, Frisco, McKinney, Allen, Denton and Mansfield. Outside North Texas, we work across the state and the continental U.S.
Where BIM and scanning pay off on DFW jobs
Occupied hospitals and offices
Scan the ceiling space off-hours, coordinate the new MEP against what's really up there, and keep the floors in service while the work goes in.
Warehouse and distribution slabs
Large pours with tight flatness specs. A full-surface FF/FL scan finds the high and low spots before racking or the next trade arrives.
Tenant finish-out
In a building that's had several tenants, the original drawings rarely match what's in the ceiling. Scan-to-BIM gives your design team measured conditions to work from.
Data centers and chip fabs
Cushman & Wakefield's 2026 ranking puts Dallas first among primary data center markets in the Americas, and CBRE counted more than 765 MW of capacity under construction here in the first half of 2026. In North Texas, Texas Instruments runs two 300 mm fabs in Richardson and started production at its new Sherman fab in December 2025. Our founder has personally worked on semiconductor projects for some of the world's largest chipmakers. Black Forge is a new firm, so those weren't company projects. See BIM and VDC for Texas data centers and fabs.

Questions from DFW contractors
- Is Black Forge Technology based in Dallas–Fort Worth?
- Yes. We're based in Dallas–Fort Worth and work on projects across the Metroplex, the rest of Texas and the continental U.S.
- Can you run MEP coordination on our job, or support our in-house VDC team?
- Either. We can run coordination as your VDC team, or advise and train your internal team to run it. We set the scope per project.
- Do you laser scan occupied buildings?
- Yes. When a hospital, office or store can't shut down during the day, we scan off-hours and at night, coordinated with your access and security team.
- What LOD do you model to?
- The LOD the job needs, agreed with you before modeling starts. Coordination models usually run at LOD 350. We also build LOD 400 fabrication models for prefab, scoped by job and site.
- How fast can we price the BIM scope on a bid?
- BIM-IQ, our estimating software, handles it: work that typically takes 2–7 days, done in minutes. You enter your quantities, choose disciplines and LOD, and download a PDF for your precon review.
- How do we get started?
- Book a free 30-minute call. We'll talk through your job, and you'll leave with two or three concrete recommendations whether or not you work with us.
